The power and beauty of the BR 4MT locomotive, 2-6-4T, number 80136, graces this painting set in the early 1960's.

Froghall Station originally opened for service in September 1849, and in April 1905 it was renamed Kingsley and Froghall Station, where goods and passenger services continued until May 1964 and January 1965, respectively.

The station buildings were originally built in the 'Tudor Style' in ashlar sandstone, and stood proud until it was demolished in 1968.

Thankfully, the Preserved Churnet Valley Railway volunteers were able to finance the rebuilding of the station, which was completed in 2003, when guest star, Mr Pete Waterman officially opened the new station building
